Another Storm

Well, didn't get to that stack and whack class, it was cancelled due to inclimate weather :( This weekend we are expecting another storm with 6-8 inches predicted. Don't mind being indoors but I do miss the sunshine! Completed my falling leaves quilt but my camera hasn't wanted to agree with me this week. Perhaps it's got cabin fever? Oh well I wanted to post a picture so I'm going to try again. Here goes...
This was my first quilt that I tried stipple. I was pleased with it for my first one, but now that I've done it I know I can improve my stiches. I'm working on another quilt for my baby sister. It is from a book called a farmers wife. It's about a magazine that ran an article to farm women back in the day about whether or not they would want their daughter to marry a farmer. The response was unbelieveable. The book reveiled some of the letters to the magazine with quilt blocks that inspired some of the stories. Hope I can get it done before her next birthday :)
Now that I have the picture thing working I just need to figure out how to read posts from other quilters. Wish me luck! Have a great weekend!
hugs~
Nancy

  1. Your Falling Leaves quilt is gorgeous! I love all the colors. I was debating between making that one or the Pick & Choose from the June 2009 issue. I decided on the Pick & Choose one but I still love the Falling Leaves pattern. I may have to make it someday. You did a great job on yours.

  3. What a pretty quilt! I clicked and enlarged the picture to see your stippling; I think you did a great job! Wish I had the nerve to try it!

Listen, if I can figure this place out, I know you can! You can find me at www.ijustlovequilts.blogspot.com . My little pink quilt shows up under your Followers button at the top left of your blog. Click on that and it should take you back to my blog.
I'll be looking forward to seeing more of your work. ---"Love"

  4. One more thing - I should have also said that when you get to my blog, or any others, if you will click on the "Followers" button at the top left, then you will be added to my list of followers, and when I post something, I think it will then show up on your dashboard, making it easy for you to find me, or anyone else. Hope that helps. ---"Love"

  5. Very nice! I don't machine quilt, let alone freemotion, so I'm quite impressed with your efforts. I just can't control my machine like that. I hand quilt because it gives me more control, but it is so slow...tops are piling up, including a leaf one. Yours makes me want to get the quilting done, but there are two other tops in the queue. What to do????

  6. Bravo! It is really a stunning quilt!!! I am also one of the quilters who can't machine quilt (well I guess can't isn't really the right word- but my efforts have been less than pleasing so far). It seems like you've been given some blogging advice already, but let me know if you still aren't getting it and I'll try to help too. :) Christine

  7. The quilt is beautiful. I love the fall colors with blues intermixed, like the sky on a fall day.

  8. Your quilt is lovely, and remember, we all have to start somewhere, and if you hadn't said it was your first try at stipple, I would not have ever known!

To "find" the blogs of everyone, you can also click on their name in the comment section. It may take you to the "about me" page, and from there there will be the link to their blog.

  10. Such a lovely quilt - another of my favourites from APQ (Pick and Choose is another too). First you are stippling and then before you know it you'll be looping, pebbling and goodness knows what else. The more quilts you do, the more confidence you will gain. Everything looks terrific so far. Will you get the chance to do the Stack and Whack again? Happy Stitching, Ann :-)

  11. Your falling leaves are wonderful. I got two done and forced myself to put it away because 4 other quilts are in progress. I went to sign in as a follower and ended up with a blank square with Mary & realized I wasn't signed in...so I redid it with Stash Heaven & pic. Can you tell I am learning too? Put all the blogs you want to follow in your dashboard and all new blogs will show up for you daily. That is a handy tool! And yes, I'm getting tired of winter too. Mary

  12. Love the colors...so warm and inviting;) You did stipple quilting on a quilt that big with that sewing machine??? Great job!! I have so much trouble fussing with something so bulky that I usually just quilt in straight lines.
    Happy quilting!!1
